Wireless Network Systems Engineer

Prime Communications Inc., an information technology integration company is currently seeking a Wireless Network Systems Engineer to be a part of our IT solutions team. Our Telephone/Data Systems Engineer works on both individual client projects including system installations and support programs.

The Position:
Our Telephone/Data Systems Engineer will report to the Director of IT of the company. He/she is responsible for the planning, coordination and installation/integration of a large variety of IT systems, with an emphasis on Telephone and VoIP. This key senior technical position requires demonstrated technical and project management skills, along with strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Wireless Systems Engineer candidates must possess a confident and professional demeanor, client-focused approach, commitment to detail and a quality-oriented attitude.
  • Position requirements include:
  • Experience and proficiency in the installation and support of Networking and Wireless Systems.  One or more technical certifications from a major network or wireless manufacturer a huge plus.
  • Working knowledge of Voice technologies a plus.
  • Must be highly organized with excellent project management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to details.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and meet business objectives.
  • Ability to think independently and formulate solutions.
  • Ability to foster positive strategic working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the confidence to explain a system implementation plan as well as the basics of technology and product usage.
  • Must be able to support customers and sales staff in the office and in the field.  A varying combination of office work and travel to customer environments is required.
  • 3 - 5+ years experience working with installation of voice or data communication equipment and experience in telecommunications.
  • Proficient in maintaining and monitoring of telecommunications cabling systems including Cat 5, Cat 6, 66 blocks, 110 panels, cross-connects, and fiber optic cabling as well as proficient use of layer 1 cable testers.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Some out of area travel will be required possibly as high as 10%.
  • Basic work week is M-F, 7:30 to 4:30 with some scheduled after-hours installation work.
